Schair-Swenson-Watson Alumni Center

Colby College, Waterville, Maine

A LEED Silver Certified Project

W. H. Demmons teamed with Ian MacDonald of Allied Engineering and Reed & Reed in 2003 to design and build the Schair-Swenson-Watson Alumni Center on the campus of Colby College.

Achieving LEED Silver Certification on this 30,000 square foot building was a very high honor for everyone involved on the project. LEED certifications are issued for four levels: Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

To achieve 'Certified' status is a huge success, but to obtain 'Silver' is that much greater an accomplishment for Colby College , and for the State of Maine. The Alumni Center is one of the first LEED Silver Certified buildings in the State, a stepping-stone for the future of building construction in Maine.
