W. H. Demmons, Inc. LEED & SPiRiT Projects and Experience |
The Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ is the nationally
accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high
performance green buildings. LEED gives building owners and operators the
tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their
buildings’ performance. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to
sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and
environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy
efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
LEED provides a roadmap for measuring and documenting success for every
building type and phase of a building lifecycle.
The SPiRiT program was originally developed to provide guidance to support
the consideration of sustainable design and development principles in Army
installation planning decisions and infrastructure projects. Its intent was
that it would be used throughout the design process to guide the project
towards a sustainable solution as well as to score and rate the resulting
facility. SPiRiT was modeled after the LEED Rating System.
W.H. Demmons, Inc. has been a leader in the HVAC industry in energy
efficient designs. Since 1992 when we designed our 1st Geothermal Building
in Portland, Maine, and we have not slowed down yet. Curt Bartram, P.E. and
a LEED Accredited Professional since 2004 is Manager of our Engineering
Division.
